With over 20 existing community farms in BC, and Pender Island’s long farming history and present-day hardworking farmers, the Farmland Project has a wealth of farming examples to draw from for our Whole Farm Planning.
We’ve visited many inspiring farms, both local farms, and community farms. On Pender, we’ve visited Whalewych Farm, Raven Rock Farm, Welcome Bay Bay Farm, Hope Bay Farm, Don Ball’s farm on South Pender and Charman Farms.

This summer we took a field trip to the mainland and visited two community farms: Glen Valley Co-operative Farm and the Fraser Commons Farm. We’ve also visited Haliburton Community Farm in Saanich and the Saltspring Centre’s gardens.
