Pender Organic Community Garden Society
The Pender Organic Community Garden Society (POCGS) is a nonprofit society that was formed in 2006 to develop an organic community garden site on Pender Island.
We maintain an organic community garden on North Pender Island. The Society's goal is to establish a source for sustainable agriculture on Pender Island.
The Society's goal is to establish a source for sustainable agriculture on Pender Island by cultivating a thriving organic garden that produces food, explores coastal food plant varieties and is a learning space for both beginner and avid vegetable gardeners.
Community gardens promote healthy communities and provide food security for persons living in remote and isolated areas such as the Gulf Islands.
Who We Are: POCGS is composed of a wide variety of community garden members who share a common commitment to organic, sustainable agriculture and access to healthy food for all residents of Pender Island.

What We Do: By providing a forum for mutual support and the sharing of common resources, POCGS assists and protects existing gardens, facilitates the formation of new gardens, and advocates food security initiatives in our local community.
Community Garden
The Pender Island organic community garden is located on Bedwell Harbour Rd. and is approximately 170 X 150 feet.
The garden is a large production garden with 25 beds ( 20' x 25' each) tended jointly by all who work within the garden. Each garden plot is maintained by an individual, family, or group. A special garden plot is also reserved for the Pender Island home school students.
Gardeners of POCGS grow and harvest food for themselves and any surplus food is donated to the Pender Island Food Bank.
We focus on vegetables that do well in the Gulf Islands.
